And I took my staff even Beauty and cut it asunder that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people And I took laqach (law-kakh') to take (in the widest variety of applications) my staff maqqel (mak-kale) a shoot, i.e. stick (with leaves on, or for walking, striking, guiding, divining) -- rod, (hand-)staff. even Beauty no`am (no'-am) agreeableness, i.e. delight, suitableness, splendor or grace -- beauty, pleasant(-ness). and cut it asunder gada` (gaw-dah') to fell a tree; generally, to destroy anything -- cut (asunder, in sunder, down, off), hew down. that I might break parar (paw-rar') to break up (usually figuratively), i.e. to violate, frustrate my covenant briyth (ber-eeth') a compact (because made by passing between pieces of flesh) -- confederacy, (con-)feder(-ate), covenant, league. which I had made karath (kaw-rath') to cut (off, down or asunder); by implication, to destroy or consume; specifically, to covenant with all the people `am (am) a people (as a congregated unit); specifically, a tribe (as those of Israel); hence (collectively) troops or attendants; figuratively, a flock -- folk, men, nation, people.
