They shall hold the bow and the lance they are cruel and will not shew mercy their voice shall roar like the sea and they shall ride upon horses every one put in array like a man to the battle against thee O daughter of Babylon They shall hold chazaq (khaw-zak') to fasten upon; hence, to seize, be strong (figuratively, courageous, causatively strengthen, cure, help, repair, fortify), obstinate; to bind, restrain, conquer the bow qesheth (keh'-sheth) of bending: a bow, for shooting (hence, figuratively, strength) or the iris -- arch(-er), + arrow, bow(-man, -shot). and the lance kiydown (kee-dohn') something to strike with, i.e. a dart -- lance, shield, spear, target. they are cruel 'akzariy (ak-zawr-ree') terrible -- cruel (one). and will not shew mercy racham (raw-kham') to fondle; by implication, to love, especially to compassionate their voice qowl (kole) from an unused root meaning to call aloud; a voice or sound shall roar hamah (haw-maw') to make a loud sound like Engl. hum); by implication, to be in great commotion or tumult, to rage, war, moan, clamor like the sea yam (yawm) from an unused root meaning to roar -- sea (-faring man, (-shore), south, west (-ern, side, -ward). and they shall ride rakab (raw-kab') to ride (on an animal or in a vehicle); causatively, to place upon (for riding or generally), to despatch upon horses cuwc (soos) from an unused root meaning to skip (properly, for joy); a horse (as leaping); also a swallow (from its rapid flight) -- crane, horse(-back, -hoof). every one put in array `arak (aw-rak') to set in a row, i.e. arrange, put in order (in a very wide variety of applications) like a man 'iysh (eesh) a man as an individual or a male person; often used as an adjunct to a more definite term (and in such cases frequently not expressed in translation) to the battle milchamah (mil-khaw-maw') a battle (i.e. the engagement); generally, war (i.e. warfare) -- battle, fight(-ing), war(-rior). against thee O daughter bath (bath) apple (of the eye), branch, company, daughter, first, old, owl, town, village. of Babylon Babel (baw-bel') confusion; Babel (i.e. Babylon), including Babylonia and the Babylonian empire -- Babel, Babylon.
