When a man hath taken a new wife he shall not go out to war neither shall he be charged with any business but he shall be free at home one year and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken When a man 'iysh (eesh) a man as an individual or a male person; often used as an adjunct to a more definite term (and in such cases frequently not expressed in translation) hath taken laqach (law-kakh') to take (in the widest variety of applications) a new chadash (khaw-dawsh') new -- fresh, new thing. wife 'ishshah (ish-shaw') irregular plural, nashiym {naw-sheem'}; a woman he shall not go out yatsa' (yaw-tsaw') to go (causatively, bring) out, in a great variety of applications, literally and figuratively, direct and proxim. to war tsaba' (tsaw-baw') a mass of persons (or figuratively, things), especially reg. organized for war (an army); by implication, a campaign, literally or figuratively (specifically, hardship, worship) neither shall he be charged `abar (aw-bar') to cross over; used very widely of any transition (literal or figurative; transitive, intransitive, intensive, causative); specifically, to cover (in copulation) with any business dabar (daw-baw') a word; by implication, a matter (as spoken of) or thing; adverbially, a cause but he shall be free naqiy (naw-kee') innocent -- blameless, clean, clear, exempted, free, guiltless, innocent, quit. at home bayith (bah'-yith) a house (in the greatest variation of applications, especially family, etc.) one 'echad (ekh-awd') united, i.e. one; or (as an ordinal) first year shaneh (shaw-neh') a year (as a revolution of time) -- + whole age, long, + old, year(-ly). and shall cheer up samach (saw-makh') probably to brighten up, i.e. (figuratively) be (causatively, make) blithe or gleesome his wife 'ishshah (ish-shaw') irregular plural, nashiym {naw-sheem'}; a woman which he hath taken laqach (law-kakh') to take (in the widest variety of applications)
