But they refused
ma'en  (maw-ane')
to refuse -- refuse, utterly.
to hearken
qashab  (kaw-shab')
to prick up the ears, i.e. hearken -- attend, (cause to) hear(-ken), give heed, incline, mark (well), regard.
and pulled away
nathan  (naw-than')
to give, used with greatest latitude of application (put, make, etc.)
carar  (saw-rar')
to turn away, i.e. (morally) be refractory -- away, backsliding, rebellious, revolter(-ing), slide back, stubborn, withdrew.
the shoulder
katheph  (kaw-thafe')
arm, corner, shoulder(-piece), side, undersetter.
and stopped
kabad  (kaw-bad')
to be heavy, i.e. in a bad sense (burdensome, severe, dull) or in a good sense (numerous, rich, honorable); causatively, to make weightybe rich, be (go) sore, stop.
their ears
'ozen  (o'-zen)
broadness. i.e. (concrete) the ear (from its form in man) -- + advertise, audience, + displease, ear, hearing, + show.
that they should not hear
shama`  (shaw-mah')
to hear intelligently (often with implication of attention, obedience, etc.; causatively, to tell, etc.)
